Netanyahu comment on the Israeli army’s mistaken killing 3 Israeli hostages
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Friday, expressed his deep sadness over what he called the unbearable tragedy represented by the killing of three Israeli hostages in Gaza who were accidentally shot by Israeli soldiers.
Netanyahu wrote on X, “Along with the entire people of Israel, I bow my head with deep sadness and express my regret over the death of 3 of our dear sons who were kidnapped”.
He added, “This is an unbearable tragedy… The entire State of Israel is sad this evening… My heart goes out to the families who are suffering during their period of intense grief”.
He continued, “Even in this difficult evening, we must bind our wounds, learn the lessons, and continue to make this great effort to return all the hostages to their homeland safely”.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said in a statement, “This is a painful incident for every Israeli… We must remain steadfast and continue working for the sake of the hostages and for the sake of our citizens and soldiers”.
Galant added that he spoke with the Israeli Chief of Staff in order to learn lessons immediately.
In a related context, dozens demonstrated in front of the military headquarters in Tel Aviv, demanding immediate measures to be taken to ensure the release of the remaining hostages held in Gaza.
For a short period, the demonstrators closed Menachem Begin Road, called for releasing the hostages, chanting, “Everyone now”.
