Netanyahu apologizes for October 7 without bearing responsibility!
Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, spoke about the current military operations in Gaza, stressing that the main goal is to achieve a decisive victory over Hamas so that it won’t be able to threaten Israel again.
He considered that Israel is facing an integrated Iranian terror axis that includes Hamas, the Houthis, Hezbollah, and Shiite militias in Syria and Iraq, in addition to efforts to create a new front in the West Bank.
Regarding the possible escalation with Hezbollah, Netanyahu said, “Hezbollah must think carefully about the possible consequences of any attack on Israel… If they are planning this, they should think twice”.
Netanyahu added that any attempt by Hezbollah to open a new front would have dire consequences.
Asked whether Israel would seek US support in the event of a direct attack by Iran, Netanyahu said he appreciated US support but wouldn’t elaborate on Israel’s defensive or offensive preparations.
“We’ll do what we have to do to defend ourselves,” he said.
Regarding the humanitarian crisis that arose after the attack carried out by Hamas on October 7, Netanyahu offered his deep apologies to the victims.
He stressed that Israel is committed to achieving victory in the war against Hamas, expressing his appreciation to US President Joe Biden for his support in sending battle groups and aircraft carriers to the region.
Speaking about the hostage issue, Netanyahu said he didn’t believe Israel would be willing to accept a deal that would release the hostages without ending Hamas’s control over the Gaza Strip.
“I don’t think that would work, because it could lead to future crises,” he added.
He stressed that Israel was committed to releasing all the hostages and achieving victory in the war.
Regarding reports of mistreatment of Palestinian prisoners, Netanyahu stressed that Israel operates according to the laws and investigates any violations.
He pointed out that “Israel has an independent legal system that includes strict investigation procedures, and any violations must be investigated and dealt with according to the law”.
It.s worth noting that Israel’s Channel 12 broadcast on Tuesday a video documenting an incident of sexual assault committed by Israeli soldiers against a Palestinian detainee in the Sde Teiman prison in southern Israel.
This video comes to increase the controversy over the conditions of detention, and treatment of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.
On the other hand, Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid wrote on X, “A failed government… Failed with trust… Failed with the economy… Failed with the cost of living”.
This comes at a time when the political situation in Israel is witnessing great tension, as Netanyahu faces sharp criticism from the opposition regarding his performance.
