Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said, on Monday, that the world is on the verge of a third world war and a nuclear catastrophe if Moscow doesn’t obtain appropriate security guarantees, stressing that his country will do its best to prevent the outbreak of a third world war and a nuclear catastrophe.

Medvedev confirmed that the objectives of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, which has been underway since late February, will be achieved.

The deputy head of the Russian Security Council added that his country would do everything possible to ensure that the current regime does not exist in Kyiv.

Medvedev indicated that the tension will continue indefinitely if Russia doesn’t obtain appropriate security guarantees.

Medvedev stated, “The only thing stopping our enemies today is the realization that Russia will be guided by the fundamentals of state policy in the field of nuclear deterrence… If a real threat arises, they will work to resolve it”.

On Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that his country is ready to negotiate with all parties to the Ukrainian conflict.

Medvedev added in an interview with Russian state owned television: “I think we are moving in the right direction, defending our national interests and the interests of our citizens and our people, and we have no other choice but to protect our citizens”.

Medvedev continued, “We’re ready to negotiate with all concerned parties about acceptable solutions, but it is up to them… We’re not the ones who refuse to negotiate, but they are the ones who reject it”.

One the same context, Russian president Vladimir Putin said he is 100% sure the Russian military would be able to destroy the Patriot air defense system, which the United States would supply to Ukraine.

The Ukrainian presidency responded to Putin’s statement, saying that Russia doesn’t want negotiations and shirks its responsibilities.
