In an analysis published by retired Israeli Major General Itzhak Brik, he expressed his concern about the deterioration of the Israeli army, warning that the ground forces have become smaller and unable to fight on more than one front.

Brik pointed out in his article in the Israeli Haaretz newspaper, that the Israeli army hasn’t yet developed a clear security strategy suitable for current or future wars.

According to Brik, US President Donald Trump’s announcement of the idea of transferring two million Palestinians from the Gaza Strip sparked widespread anger in the Arab world, which could lead to serious diplomatic complications.

The announcement is likely to affect relations with countries such as Saudi Arabia and Egypt, and reshape regional alliances against Israel.

In this context, Brik believes that the second phase of the hostage exchange may be in danger, as Israel insists that the hostages will only be released if Hamas surrenders and disarms, which Brick considers unrealistic, especially since Hamas believes that there is a plan aimed at displacing the residents of Gaza.

Brik also called for abandoning the current policy, which he described as illusory, and starting work on releasing all hostages without imposing complicated conditions, stressing the need to end the war and focus on rebuilding the economy, strengthening the social fabric, and enhancing international relations.

Brik stressed that the Israeli army suffers from major problems, most notably the absence of a security doctrine appropriate for modern warfare, in addition to reducing the size of the ground forces, and the lack of effective strategies to confront increasing threats such as missiles and drones.

Brik concluded his analysis by warning of the possibility of a large-scale regional war that could force Israel to fight on several fronts at the same time, including confronting Hezbollah in Lebanon, Iranian-backed militias in Syria and Jordan, and the possibility of a new Palestinian uprising.

He stressed that the Israeli army urgently needs to strengthen its military capabilities and prepare for the worst possible scenarios.
