Macron calls on Europe to define its rules for coexistence with Russia if peace is established in Ukraine
French President Emmanuel Macron stressed on Friday that Europe should set its own rules for coexistence with Russia if a peace deal is reached to end the war in Ukraine, in order to reduce the risk of escalation.
“The Europeans have to start this work, based on their own thinking and interests,” the French president said at the Munich Security Conference.
He suggested that the Europeans launch a series of consultations on this important issue.
He argued that the countries of the old continent should effectively develop their defense arsenals, especially with regard to long-range precision strikes systems, if they want to be in a position of strength to negotiate with Russia in the future.
