According to sources in Damascus, a Kuwaiti delegation recently visited Damascus in preparation for restoring diplomatic relations between the two countries at the highest level and as soon as possible.

It was also noted that a delegation of Kuwaiti businessmen also visited Damascus to discuss opportunities for cooperation between the two countries with Syrian counterparts.

The Kuwaiti delegation including political and diplomatic figures visited Damascus to discuss the reopening of the Kuwaiti embassy, noting that the members of the delegation inspected the embassy building.

The Kuwaiti delegation inspected the buildings of the Kuwaiti embassy in preparation for its reopening, after its closure since 2011, as the members of the delegation met with Syrian officials, in the presence of Syria’s ambassador to Kuwait, Tamim Madani, who arranged the meeting a month ago.

The Kuwaiti delegation was scheduled for the first of the current July, but it was postponed for purely technical reasons.

Currently, the Kuwaiti delegation is staying at the Four Seasons hotel in the center of the Syrian capital, Damascus, which enjoys intensive security protection by the Syrian authorities.
