Khamenei’s advisor: Iran is studying US messages to resume negotiations as trust between Tehran and Washington has completely collapsed after the war
The advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Ali Larijani, announced on Friday that Tehran is currently studying messages it has received from the United States regarding the possibility of resuming negotiations, noting that trust between the two countries has “completely collapsed” after the recent war.
Larijani described the United Nations and the Security Council as having become a “stage for buffoonery and mockery,” accusing the US administration, led by President Donald Trump, of adopting a policy based on “surrender or war”.
He added that talk of destroying the Palestinian Hamas and the Lebanese Hezbollah is merely “propaganda noise,” stressing that Hamas continues to carry out operations against Israel.
He emphasized that Netanyahu and Trump don’t understand the greatness of the Iranian nation, according to the Iranian IRNA news agency.
US President Donald Trump had previously indicated that Iranian officials were in contact with Washington to set a date for talks on the nuclear program, but Tehran denied this.
It’s worth noting that talks between the two sides began in April 2025, but were halted following the recent Israeli military attacks on Iran.
Trump has confirmed that they will resume soon.
