Israeli Radio said, Sunday, that the head of the Hamas movement’s office in the Gaza Strip, Yahya Sinwar, had prepared for this war for 15 years, and he knew that and prepared for it well.

Israeli Radio reported on Sunday morning that Yahya Sinwar had been preparing for war on the Gaza Strip for about 15 years, and that the Israeli army had penetrated a large and long distance underground, adding that the talk was about tens of kilometers of underground tunnels.

The radio indicated that the Israeli army has done what it must do, so far, and has done much more than was planned.

Last Tuesday, the European Union placed the leader of the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, Yahya Sinwar, on the list of terrorists.

The European Council said in a statement, “The person listed today is Yahya Sinwar, the political leader of the Hamas movement”.

After his inclusion, Yahya Sinwar is subject to the freezing of his funds and other financial assets in European Union member states.

This comes as the US intelligence agencies estimated that Israeli security forces killed only about 20 to 30% of the members of the Palestinian Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, and the United States believes, according to US reports, that Hamas still has enough ammunition to continue.

Israeli forces have been fighting for several months, according to The Times of Israel.

Last week, the Israeli military said that more than 9,000 Hamas activists and members of other groups have been killed by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war, in addition to about 1,000 inside Israel on October 7, 2023.

In 2021, a senior Israeli army commander said he believed the Palestinian Hamas movement had about 30,000 fighters.

The Israeli army believes that the fighting in the Gaza Strip will likely continue throughout the entire year 2024, as Israel is working to strip Hamas of its military and governmental capabilities, and it has pledged to continue fighting until all those detained by the Palestinian movement are released.
