The number of Palestinians killed by sporadic Israeli shelling of the Gaza Strip since dawn on Saturday has risen to eight, while the army continued to destroy residential buildings west of Rafah as part of its ongoing military operation that began on March 23.

In the latest raid, a medical source reported the deaths of two Palestinians in an Israeli airstrike targeting a gathering of civilians in the Shuja’iya neighborhood east of Gaza City.

He added that a Palestinian was killed and others were injured in a bombing that targeted a house in the Miraj area, northeast of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.

On Saturday morning, a medical source said that three Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a food distribution center in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.

The source added that a Palestinian was killed and his wife and child were injured as a result of the bombing of a residential apartment in the center of Khan Yunis.

In Gaza City, a Palestinian woman was killed in an Israeli bombardment of the al Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City.

Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli artillery renewed its shelling of the Shuja’iya neighborhood east of Gaza City at dawn, while heavy gunfire was directed at the area.

Witnesses indicated that the Israeli army continued to demolish residential buildings west of the city as part of its ongoing military operation in the Tel al Sultan neighborhood since March 23, encircling the area with the aim of deepening its control and expanding the security buffer zone there.

Gaza is witnessing this ongoing military escalation by the Israeli occupation, amid a complete deterioration in the humanitarian and health situation, with Israel imposing a comprehensive blockade on the territory, ignoring all international appeals to lift it.
