According to the Iranian Tasnim News Agency, a senior official in the Revolutionary Guards was killed after an Israeli raid on the Sayyida Zeinab area in the Damascus countryside, Syria.

The killed Iranian commander is Sayyed Radi Mousavi, who holds the rank of general.

Mousavi was close to the former commander of the Quds Force, Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in a US raid in Iraq, January, 2020.

According to the Iranian state television, the Revolutionary Guard said in a statement that Israel will pay the price for the killing of a senior Guard commander in an attack in Syria.

The Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said that Israel will pay a heavy price for the assassination of Reza Mousavi.

Iranian media reported that Mousavi is one of the old Iranian advisors in Syria, and that he is one of the companions of former Revolutionary Guard Commander Qassem Soleimani.

Mousavi was responsible for coordinating the military alliance between Syria and Iran.

For its part, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that Tehran reserves the right to respond at the appropriate time and place to the assassination of Mousavi.

“The assassination of the Revolutionary Guard advisor is a sinful and cowardly act and a sign of the terrorist nature of the Zionist regime,” Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The Revolutionary Guard issued a statement saying, “The usurping Zionist entity will definitely pay the price for this crime”.

In a related context, the Iranian ambassador to Syria, Hussein Akbari, said that “the house of Revolutionary Guard Advisor Radhi Mousavi was targeted by three Zionist missiles”.
