Israel’s ambassador in Cairo, Amira Oron, said on Tuesday evening that Israel doesn’t have any intentions regarding Sinai and hasn’t asked the Palestinians to move there.

This came according to a statement by the Israeli ambassador to Egypt, through her account on X, and by the Israeli embassy official Facebook account.

Oron’s statements come hours after the Egyptian News Agency (ASA) published, on Tuesday, media statements from high-ranking security sources, warning Israel against pushing Palestinians into a “mass exodus” towards Egyptian territory, as Israel’s bombardment of the adjacent Gaza Strip continues.

The Israeli ambassador continued, “Sinai is Egyptian territory where the Egyptian army has fought terrorism during the past ten years… This activity has become possible to a large extent thanks to cooperation, agreements and coordination with Israel”.

Oron concluded her statement by saying, “This indicates, in practice, Israel’s commitment and full awareness of the borders between Israel and Egypt”.

On Tuesday, the official news agency quoted Egyptian sources as saying, “Israel sought throughout the conflict to try to resettle the people of Gaza in Sinai, and Egypt confronted these plans”.

The same sources explained that the Israeli government is forcing the Palestinians to choose between death under bombing or displacement outside their lands.

In the event that the Palestinians of the Gaza Strip are displaced outside the territory, they have no choice but to enter the Rafah crossing and enter Egyptian territory.

For years, calls to settle the people of Gaza in Sinai remained on the table with every Israeli escalation against the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli ambassador’s statements come at a time when Israel continues its violent attack on Gaza in response to the Hamas operation, while the Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, which is under Egyptian control, was subjected to Israeli bombing twice during the past few hours.

On the other hand, the Israeli authorities had warned the Egyptian authorities against sending any trucks carrying aid to the people of Gaza, threatening to bomb those trucks, which prompted the Egyptian authorities to withdraw the aid trucks that they had sent to the Strip, without being able to deliver that aid inside the Gaza Strip, meanwhile, Egyptian authorities still closing the Rafah crossing.
