Israel: Netanyahu prevents the defense minister from traveling to the United States to hold security meetings because of the tension between them and his desire to travel before his ministers
The Israeli media said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prevented Defense Minister Yoav Gallant from traveling to the United States to hold security meetings because of the tension between them on the one hand, and his desire to travel before his ministers.
Israeli Channel 12 reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prevented his defense minister, Yoav Gallant, from traveling to the United States to hold security meetings, due to the tension between them, and Netanyahu’s desire to arrive in Washington first before his cabinet ministers.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office denied the news, saying, “It is not true, and there is complete coordination between Netanyahu and Galant”.
It is worth noting that Netanyahu is still awaiting an invitation from US President Joe Biden to visit the White House, despite the passage of four months since the formation of his government.
Several weeks ago, Biden indicated that he “will not invite Netanyahu soon to visit the White House,” and at that time, he did not hide his opposition to the Israeli government’s plan to introduce amendments to the legislation governing the work of the judiciary.
Earlier, Israeli media quoted US sources as concerned about Netanyahu’s dismissal of his defense minister, who retracted it under internal and American public pressure, according to Israeli media, as Netanyahu had announced on March 26, the dismissal of Galant, following the pressure exerted by the latter to persuade The Israeli prime minister suspended legislation on judicial reforms, but Israeli media noted in the days following the decision that Netanyahu did not formally notify Gallant of his dismissal.
On April 10, Netanyahu announced that he had decided to keep Gallant in his position, and said in a speech from the Israeli Ministry of Defense, “Minister Galant and I work together in the security field… I decided one thing, and that is to put all differences aside and for him to continue with his work”.
