Iraq informs the United State of its need to import electricity and gas from Iran

Many countries that were importing Iranian oil and gas continue to complain after the recent US sanctions.

Iraq announced through the Iraqi Electricity Minister on Monday that its country informed the US administration of its need to import electricity and gas from Iran.

The Iraqi news agency, stated that, the Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Louay Al Khatib saying that: “Iraq will achieve self-sufficiency in electricity production in two to three years”.

“Iraq has informed the American side of its need to import electricity and gas from Iran and that Iraq imports about 1200 megawatts of electricity and gas to generate 2800 megawatts”, he said.

Al Khatib said that “self-sufficiency phase will be in two or three years in the event of the implementation of large projects with international companies before and solid”.

The Iraqi Minister stressed that “the ministry is working on the production of 18 thousand megawatts during the peak period this summer compared to the same period last year, which amounted to 14 thousand megawatts”.
