Iranian Foreign Minister condemned the US airstrike and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard says Now the war has begun!
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement on its X announcing that “the war has now begun,” in the first official response to the attack targeting the Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan facilities.
In direct response, the Iranian armed forces launched a missile attack on sites inside Israel, with air raid sirens sounding across large areas of Israeli territory.
Earlier Sunday morning, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the US attack as “heinous,” warning of “dire consequences” that would result from this escalation.
Araghchi condemned the US airstrike that targeted three nuclear facilities inside Iran, by saying this won’t go unanswered.
He emphasized that these developments could drag the region into dangerous repercussions.
In the first official comment at this level following the US airstrikes carried out last night, Abbas Araghchi stressed that Tehran won’t stand idly by and that it reserves all its options to defend its national sovereignty, interests, and the security of its people.
The Foreign Iranian minister said that the United States had “committed a flagrant violation” of international law and the UN Charter, adding that targeting peaceful nuclear facilities also constitutes a violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
He added, “What we witnessed this morning is a dangerous and unprecedented escalation that will have dire consequences, and we are prepared to respond as necessary”.
This US attack coincided with escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, with US President Donald Trump announcing precision strikes against Iranian nuclear targets as part of the ongoing conflict initiated by Israel on June 13.
It’s worth noting, that Iran’s Nuclear Safety Center confirmed that no signs of radioactive contamination had been recorded, reassuring residents of areas near the targeted facilities.
For his part, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the US move, expressing his belief that “strength is the basis for achieving peace,” referring to the close cooperation between Washington and Tel Aviv on this issue.
