Iran announced on Wednesday that it had targeted sites in Israel and US bases in the region using missiles and drones.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement that it carried out new attacks as part of the 80th wave of Operation True Promise 4 against Israeli and American targets.

“Strategic points and military posts in the north of the occupied Palestinian territories were destroyed in a heavy and continuous rocket attack by the IRGC,” Iranian Revolutionary Guard said.

The statement noted that the 80th wave of attacks was carried out in support of Hezbollah and the popular resistance in southern Lebanon, adding that “this operation marks the beginning of a series of previously announced operations against the Zionist entity.

“In these operations, the positions of the Zionist forces gathering in the north of occupied Palestine and the Gaza Strip will be subjected to heavy and indiscriminate missile attacks and drones by the Iranian army,” the statement added.

“The attacks targeted sites in Tel Aviv, Kiryat Shmona, and Bnei Brak in Israel, in addition to US bases in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, including Ali al Salem and Arifjan bases in Kuwait, Muwaffaq al Salti in Jordan, and Sheikh Issa in the UAE,” the statement said.

On the other hand, the Israeli military also said on Wednesday that it had targeted what it claimed were two naval cruise missile production sites in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

The IDF said in a statement that the air force carried out the strikes under the direction of the Military Intelligence Service in recent days, targeting what it described as two central sites for the production of naval cruise missiles in Tehran.

The Israeli military claimed that the two sites operate under the supervision of Iran’s Ministry of Defense and are used to develop and produce long-range missiles that allow the rapid destruction of sea and land targets.

The strikes caused extensive damage to the cruise missile system, as part of the targeting of Iran’s military infrastructure.

CNN reported on Wednesday that Washington is expected to send about 1,000 troops to the Middle East in the coming days, in conjunction with the aggression it and Tel Aviv is waging against Iran.

According to two sources, about 1,000 soldiers from the US Army’s 82nd Airborne Division are expected to be deployed in the coming days to the Middle East, bolstering the growing military power in the region.

These moves come in the context of continuous military reinforcements, as the United States has significantly strengthened its military presence in the Middle East in recent months, ahead of the outbreak of the war on Iran.

The first batch of troops is expected to begin deploying within a week, with estimates likely to change depending on the situation.

The 82nd Airborne Division carried out a similar move in 2020 following the assassination of the former commander of the IRGC’s Quds Force Qassem Soleimani.
