Houthis targets 3 Israeli ships with missiles and drones in the Gulf of Aden

The Yemeni Houthis “Ansar Allah” announced on Thursday the targeting of 3 Israeli ships in the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean, with a number of missiles and drones, achieving accurate hits.

“The navy, the drone air force and the missile force affiliated with the Houthis carried out a joint operation, targeting the Israeli ships MSC Diego and MSC Guinea in the Gulf of Aden with a number of ballistic missiles and drones, and the hit was accurate,” Yemeni military spokesman, Yahya Saree said.

“The missile force carried out two qualitative operations in the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea targeting the Israeli MSC Vitoria ship, and the hit was direct,” he said.

“The Houthis forces are following developments in the Gaza Strip and won’t hesitate to escalate their military operations as a victory for the oppression of the Palestinian people,” he said.

The Houthis spokesman stressed the continuation of preventing Israeli navigation or heading to the ports of occupied Palestine in the area of operations announced, until the lifting of the siege and the cessation of aggression in the Gaza Strip.

On Friday evening, Ansar Allah announced the start of a fourth phase of escalation in its solidarity attacks with Gaza, against the backdrop of serious preparation for Israel to carry out an aggressive military operation against the city of Rafah in the southern Palestinian Strip.

In solidarity with Gaza, which has been facing a devastating Israeli war since October 7, 2023, the group has targeted Israeli or associated cargo ships with rockets and drones in the Red Sea and the Arab Sea.

With the intervention of Washington and London through a coalition launching strikes on Houthi positions in Yemen, and the escalation of tension in January, the Houthi group announced that it now considers all US and British ships as military targets.

More recently, the group said it would expand its strikes to include enemy-linked vessels passing through the Indian Ocean via the Cape of Good Hope route.
