Damascus International Airport was out of service again on Sunday as a result of being exposed to Israeli bombing, hours after resuming its work.

On Sunday, afternoon, Israeli warplanes launched a new raid targeting Damascus International Airport, targeting the airport’s landing strips, which led to it being out of service again.

Israel conducted another attacks, as another explosion was heard from the direction of Mezzeh Airport in the Syrian capital.

Local sources from Damascus said that, a Captain and two members of the Syrian Army forces were injured as a result of an Israeli bombing that targeted an air defense forces base in the Mezzeh area.

The official Syrian news agency (SANA) quoted a military source as saying, “Around 16:50 (13:50 GMT) this afternoon, the Zionist enemy carried out an air attack with missiles from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting Damascus International Airport and some points in the Damascus countryside”.

The source added, “Our air defense forces responded to the enemy missiles and destroyed most of them, and the aggression resulted in the airport being out of service and some material losses”.

All flights to and from the country’s largest and main airport have been halted since October 22 as a result of Israeli strikes that targeted its main runways.

Simultaneous strikes on the same day took Aleppo International Airport out of service, prompting the Syrian Ministry of Transport to divert all flights to Latakia Airport, the smallest and least expensive.

The airport resumed its work on Sunday morning after stopping for more than a month, as a result of Israeli strikes that put it out of service, according to what two private tourism and travel reservations companies in the Syrian capital, before it was targeted again on Sunday afternoon.

Since the start of the conflict in 2011, Israel has launched hundreds of air strikes in Syria, targeting targets of the Syrian army and groups loyal to Tehran, including Lebanese Hezbollah.

Israel rarely confirms that it has carried out strikes in Syria, but it repeatedly confronts what it describes as Tehran’s attempts, in support of Damascus, to establish its military presence in this country.
