The Lebanese Hezbollah announced, at dawn on Wednesday, that it had targeted a Merkava tank at the Israeli site of the boarders, in southern Lebanon, killing and wounding its crew.

Hezbollah statement said, “The group of martyrs Hussein Hani al Taweel and Mahdi Muhammad Atwi targeted a Merkava tank of the occupation army at a quarter past three in the morning on Wednesday at the al Raheb site”.

The statement noted that it was directly hit, which led to the death and injury of its crew.

On Tuesday, Hezbollah announced that five of his members were killed in southern Lebanon, during confrontations with the Israeli army.

Since October 7, the Israeli-Lebanese border has witnessed intense tension and intermittent exchanges of fire between Hezbollah and Palestinian factions on the one hand, and Israel on the other, resulting in deaths and injuries on both sides.

The escalation in southern Lebanon comes after Hamas operation against Israel on October 7.

The US State Department raised its warning level against traveling to Lebanon to don’t travel, referring to the security situation related to the exchange of missiles, missiles, and artillery between Israel and Hezbollah.

The Department of State permitted the voluntary and temporary departure of family members of US government employees and certain non-emergency employees from the US Embassy in Beirut due to the unpredictable security situation in Lebanon.
