Here we go again with Biden’s slips… he welcomes Zelensky as “the president of Ukraine as Putin!”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sparked widespread interaction among activists on social media and his facial expressions at the moment of the slip of the tongue of US President, Joe Biden, who introduced him saying, “Ukrainian President Putin”.
Biden rectified the situation several seconds later, returning to the podium and saying, “President Zelensky… I’m very focused on defeating Putin”.
“I want to hand over the floor to the president of Ukraine, who has a great deal of courage and determination, please welcome President Putin,” Biden said at a NATO summit in Washington, where Biden was alongside NATO leaders preparing to announce their support for Ukraine, and invited Zelensky to speak.
Later, the US president commented on a question posed by a journalist about the slip of the tongue, where Biden said that the reason for the mistake was that he was talking about Putin before introducing him to Zelensky, and added that he regretted the Ukrainian president and then added 5 other names.
Asked if it was hurting America’s standing in the world, Biden replied, “Have you seen any damage to our standing in my leadership of this conference? Have you seen the most successful conference, what do you think? How many times have you heard other leaders and heads of state at that conference thank me and say the reason we’re together is Biden?”
According to observers, this new slip from Biden, could be the grave mistake, and could be the last straw of his presidency, as Democrats increasingly demand that he step down from power due to his declining mental state.
Commenting on Biden’s slip, the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign ministry, Maria Zakharova who wrote sarcastically on Telegram on Friday, “It seems to me that it’s no longer possible to hide the alleged Russian interference in the American elections – there is a pro-Russian candidate controlled by the Kremlin hand!”
She added, “We remain awaiting Hillary Clinton’s hysteria regarding the ‘attack on American democracy’ and a US State Department report on uncovering a conspiracy by ‘domestic terrorists”.
On the same context, the Kremlin said on Friday that US President Joe Biden’s mistake of confusing Russian President Vladimir Putin with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was totally unacceptable.
After mistakenly referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “President Putin” during remarks on Thursday, Biden corrected himself, saying that “he will defeat President Putin — President Zelensky,” and later added to Zelensky, You’re much better”.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, commented on Biden’s remarks, “We continue to consider it unacceptable and totally inappropriate behavior from a head of state to speak disrespectfully about other heads of state”.
Peskov added, “This is unacceptable to us, and we believe that this doesn’t reflect well on the head of state of the United States”.
While Peskov noted, “the whole world took notice to the fact that Biden was wrong, he acknowledged that Biden’s lapses were clearly slips of the tongue”.
Peskov added, “I can’t comment on them, nor how that would affect Biden’s chances of staying in the presidential race”.
The Kremlin spokesman concluded, “This is an internal matter of the United States and concerns the American voters, not our business”.
