Harris and Walz give their first TV interview as candidates on CNN on Thursday
CNN announced on Tuesday that it will conduct an interview on Thursday with both the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate Kamala Harris and the candidate for her vice president, Tim Walz, in their first interview since their nominations for the elections scheduled for November 5.
CNN said that anchor Dana Bash will conduct this joint interview with Harris and Walz on Thursday while they are on a campaign trip to the swing state of Georgia.
CNN explained that the interview will be broadcast at 9 pm (EST) on the same day (1 am on Friday GMT).
The 59-year-old Democratic candidate has come under increasing pressure to give a real interview to a major US media outlet after having done very brief interviews with journalists during her travels or in meetings with influencers.
Harris’s interview with the Minnesota governor, who she has chosen as her running mate, will be followed by a debate with Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, scheduled for September 10.
Harris, Vice President Joe Biden, replaced him in the presidential race after he announced his withdrawal from it on July 21.
Biden withdrew following his disastrous performance during the debate between him and Trump in late June.
The challenge facing Harris, who is currently slightly ahead of Trump in the polls, is to maintain her momentum or even widen the gap with the former president.
