On Saturday, the Hamas movement announced in a statement that it welcomed Russia’s tireless efforts aimed at stopping the Israeli aggression against Gaza.

Hamas added, “We appreciate the position of Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the ongoing Zionist aggression against our people and his rejection of the siege of Gaza, cutting off relief supplies, and targeting safe civilians there”.

Speaking during the CIS summit in Bishkek, Putin said that Moscow was ready to act as a mediator in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, expressed his deep concern about the escalation of violence, and stressed urgent need to stop the bloodshed”.

Putin added, “Russia is ready to coordinate with all partners with constructive approaches, and we proceed from the assumption that there is no alternative to resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict except negotiations”.

The Russian president expressed that a ground operation, if launched by Israel in Gaza, would be problem due to the risks of using heavy military equipment in civilian areas.

He stated, “We understand, to say it semi-professionally, that using heavy equipment in residential areas is a difficult task fraught with dire consequences for all parties, and carrying out these operations without the equipment is even more difficult”.

He added, “The most important thing is that civilian casualties will be completely unacceptable, as nearly two million people live there”.

Putin’s statements contradict Russia’s actions as it continues its comprehensive invasion of Ukraine.

Moscow has been accused of numerous violations of international law and war crimes, particularly targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure, while continuing the war against its neighbor.

On numerous occasions, according to numerous investigations, heavy equipment was used in civilian areas.

Russia has repeatedly denied targeting civilians or civilian infrastructure and has refused to commit any war crimes during what it calls its special military operation in Ukraine, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
