Hamas political leader: We’ll not allow US forces to enter Gaza under any circumstances
The spokesman for the Palestinian Hamas movement, Sami Abu Zuhri, stated that Hamas is counting on the futility of the statements of US President Donald Trump, regarding the settlement of Palestinians, and will not allow US forces to enter Gaza.
Abu Zuhri said in an interview with the Turkish newspaper Hürriyet, “We hope that these words (Trump’s statements) aren’t serious.”
He continued, “We’ve been fighting the Israeli occupation for many years, and of course we will not allow a new occupation… We consider Trump’s statements unfair and insulting to our people, and we’ll not allow Trump’s forces to enter Gaza under any circumstances”.
According to him, in this context, Hamas proposes to create an alliance to confront Trump’s behavior and prevent his attempts to rule independently and attack Gaza.
He added, “This alliance must convey to Trump a message that the peoples of this region are not property and that if he wants to protect US interests, he must respect their sovereignty and rights”.
On February 4, US President Donald Trump renewed talk of his proposal to transfer Palestinian residents from the Gaza Strip to Egypt and Jordan.
Trump said at a White House press conference that “the Palestinians have no alternative but to leave the coastal strip, and I want to see Jordan and Egypt take Palestinians from Gaza”.
On February 5, Trump announced that the United States would take control of the Gaza Strip, oversee the removing explosives and munitions, and dismantle destroyed buildings, noting that the residents of the Gaza Strip could live in other “beautiful and safe” areas instead of the destroyed lands.
