Hamas leader Moussa Abu Marzouk said Friday evening that the movement has agreed to Trump’s Gaza plan in principle, emphasizing that its implementation requires negotiations.

In an interview with the Qatari Al Jazeera channel, Abu Marzouk stressed that the movement would hand over its weapons to the future Palestinian state, and that the future of the Palestinian people was a national issue that Hamas couldn’t decide alone.

He added, “We agreed to the American plan with its main headings as a principle”.

He pointed out that its practical implementation requires detailed negotiations through mediators.

Abu Marzouk indicated that Hamas “will enter into negotiations on all issues related to the movement and weapons”.

He continued: “For example, all details related to the peacekeeping force require understanding and clarification”.

Abu Marzouk explained that Hamas will hand over its weapons to the future Palestinian state, and that whoever rules Gaza will have weapons in their hands.

He stressed that shaping the future of the Palestinian people is a national issue that cannot be decided by Hamas alone, calling on Washington to look positively at the future of the Palestinian people.

Abu Marzouk stated that there was a national consensus to hand over the administration of Gaza to independents whose authority would be the Palestinian Authority.

He stressed that Hamas is a national liberation movement, and that the definition of terrorism in the plan cannot be applied to it.

On Friday evening, Hamas said in a statement that it had submitted its response to the Trump plan for Gaza to mediators, announcing its agreement to release all Israeli prisoners, living and dead, and to hand over control of the Strip to a Palestinian body of independent technocrats, based on Palestinian national consensus and Arab and Islamic support.

However, she stressed that the future of the Gaza Strip and the rights of the people are being discussed within a Palestinian framework.

In turn, US President Donald Trump on Friday called on Israel to stop bombing Gaza immediately.

Trump said via Truth Social, “Based on the statement issued by Hamas, I believe they are ready for a lasting peace… Israel must stop bombing Gaza immediately so we can get the hostages out safely and quickly!”

In turn, US President Donald Trump responded by approving Hamas’ statement and demanding that Israel immediately halt its bombing of Gaza.

Trump wrote on his Truth Social, “Based on the statement Hamas just made, I believe they are ready for a lasting peace”.

He added: “Israel must stop bombing Gaza immediately, so we can release the hostages safely and quickly… It’s too dangerous to do so now… We’re discussing details that need to be resolved… This isn’t just about Gaza, but about the long-awaited peace in the Middle East”.
