Israel has one of the most powerful armies in the Middle East, and its army is classified among the 20 most powerful armies in the world, depending on the advanced military equipment it possesses on land, sea and air, whether it is local or imported from other countries.

Statistics from the “Global Fire Power” website indicate that the number of its forces, the Israeli army, in 2021 reached 643 thousand soldiers, including 465 thousand reserve forces.

Israel has hundreds of warplanes and dozens of advanced naval units, in addition to the advanced equipment that its ground forces possess, according to the website.

The National Interest magazine says that a number of weapons possessed by the Israeli army represent the secret of its strength, most notably the US “F-35” fighters.

The magazine continued, “The IDF focuses on training its soldiers to use these advanced weapons with high efficiency so that they can benefit from their capabilities to the fullest”.

The magazine pointed out that Israel has moved towards local military industrialization decades ago in parallel with importing the latest weapons, which made it at the present time among the best armies in the world.

The magazine mentioned the most prominent weapons that the Israeli army relies on to fight future wars on land, sea and air.

Israel was able to design a local Merkava tank, and it entered service in the IDF in 1979, and since then it has undergone several updates and the number of its production has become about 1,600 tanks, in addition to hundreds of tanks that are to be joined in the future.

Israel has acquired US “F-15” since the 1970s, and since then it has become one of the best users of that plane in the world, whether in air control operations or in carrying out long-range bombing operations.

Israel has an elite of pilots of these fighters, known as the “Thunder”, which are a fighter and bomber that can fight air battles and carry out long-range bombing operations.

The Jericho-3 missile entered service in the 1970s to replace the previous version, the Jericho-2, a long-range ballistic missile that can carry nuclear warheads, and is considered the most advanced ballistic missile in the Middle East.

By possessing this missile, Israel aims to achieve the theory of nuclear deterrence, which assures its opponents that any targeting of its lands will be met by missile strikes that reach deep into their lands.

Israel acquired several German “Dolphin” diesel submarines, which are among the most advanced diesel submarines in the world.

Although Israel has not announced the nature of the armament of these submarines and whether or not they carry nuclear missiles, its possession of this type of submarine represents an underwater deterrent force that can be launched at any time.

The IDF is keen to train its soldiers to use the latest technologies of modern warfare and the weapons that armies depend on in those wars.
