Germany appointing Martin Jäger as new ambassador in Kiev

Press reports in Germany revealed, that Berlin appointed Martin Jäger as the new German ambassador to Ukraine.

This came according to what was reported by the German Stuttgarter Zeitung and Stuttgarter Nachrichten newspapers, which were issued on Wednesday, based on government sources in Berlin.

According to these reports, Jäger is expected to succeed the current ambassador, Anka Waldhausen, next summer.

It should be noted that Jäger is currently the German ambassador to Iraq.

Jäger also held positions including spokesman for former Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the currently German President, as well as head of the lobby group for the German Daimler automobile group, and the position of German ambassador to Afghanistan.

For its part, the German Foreign Ministry initially refused to comment on the changes in ambassadorial positions.
