Emmanuel Macron: We’re ready to set a positive agenda in relations with Türkiye

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday that his country is ready to set a positive agenda in relations with Türkiye.

This came in a phone call between Macron and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to a statement issued by the French presidency.

The statement explained that Macron expressed his country’s readiness to create a positive agenda in bilateral relations with Türkiye, especially with regard to the strategic independence of the European continent.

He added that the two sides discussed bilateral relations and the situation in Syria during the phone call.

The statement said that Macron and Erdogan expressed their satisfaction with the overthrow of Bashar al Assad’s regime in Syria.

The two leaders expressed their support for a peaceful political transition in Syria in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2254, which respects the fundamental rights of all as soon as possible.

The statement pointed out that Macron will contribute to regional efforts to preserve Syria’s unity and sovereignty.

Regarding the situation in Gaza, the statement indicated that both sides support the ongoing negotiations to reach a ceasefire.
