Ehud Olmert: Netanyahu’s government must be toppled
Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Saturday evening that Benjamin Netanyahu’s government must be toppled and elections for the Israeli Knesset must be held.
On Saturday evening, Israel’s Channel 12 interviewed Olmert, in which he explained that the Netanyahu government must end the war in the Gaza Strip as long as Hamas manages to survive a full 9 months after the start of the war that broke out on October 7, last year.
“Once Netanyahu falls, the country can return to rationality and construction,” Olmert said, adding that “the government must be toppled and the war won’t end without parliamentary elections and by the end of the year there will be elections”.
Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert called for a settlement in northern Israel that would stop fighting in the north of the country, criticizing Netanyahu’s government for evicting tens of thousands of Israeli settlers from their homes at the start of the war on the Gaza Strip.
Earlier on Saturday, an Israeli channel reported that the army had told the political leadership that the fight against Hamas would continue for years, meaning the loss of detainees held by the group in the Gaza Strip.
