US President Donald Trump has declared that Iran is very close to possessing nuclear weapons, and hasn’t ruled out the possibility of communicating with the Iranian leadership in the future.

Speaking from the White House, Trump responded to a question about Iran’s nuclear capabilities by saying, “They’re very close”.

Trump confirmed that he had reactivated the maximum pressure policy that he had pursued against Tehran during his first term between 2016 and 2020.

Despite the escalation of rhetoric towards Iran, Trump expressed his willingness to establish positive relations with all countries, including Iran, explaining that he would like to reach an agreement with it, but he added, “It may be possible, and it may not be possible”.

In a clear warning, Trump indicated that any attempt by Iran or any other country to target or eliminate him would be met with complete destruction.

He stated that if this happened to a person close to the US leadership, the country that carried out this attack would completely disappear, including Iran.

Trump stressed that he wasn’t afraid of any threat, noting that the US military was monitoring the situation and would follow developments.

Earlier, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian denied that his country was planning to assassinate Trump, while Trump had previously accused Iran of trying to carry out moves against him without providing details or evidence to support this claim, warning that these attempts could be repeated.
