Daily Mail: This is what Assad gave Israel to secure his safe escape from Syria?
The British Daily Mail newspaper claimed that toppled Syrian President Bashar al Assad provided information about the locations of Syrian government weapons depots and missile systems to the Israeli occupation, in exchange for securing his safe exit from Syria.
According to the Daily Mail, this cooperation allowed for a series of Israeli airstrikes on Syrian military sites.
In the report prepared by David Avrir and Elena Salvoni, it was reported that Assad revealed important military secrets and strategic locations of the Syrian army to Israel to ensure his safe escape.
The report claimed that Assad, who was overthrown after 24 years of rule by the armed opposition, handed over information about the locations of weapons and missile depots, military bases and key infrastructure for his forces.
Reports indicate that the Israeli army agreed to ensure that the presidential plane carrying Assad wouldn’t be threatened as he left for the Russian Hmeimim air base.
The report added that Assad left Syria on a Russian military plane after the Hay’at Tahrir al Sham group took control of Damascus.
After his arrival in Moscow, the Daily Mail claimed that Israel launched a massive bombing campaign that precisely targeted hundreds of Syrian military sites.
According to the report, these allegations came from Turkish Hürriyet newspaper that a reliable source provided details about Assad’s contacts with Israel.
The report also noted that Assad denied these allegations, describing them as misleading information.
In a post on the presidential Telegram channel, Assad confirmed that he didn’t leave Syria in the final moments of the battles, but rather continued to perform his duties until the early hours of December 8, 2024.
The report also claimed that Assad’s last attempt to escape was made using a private plane from Hmeimim Air Base, and that the presidential plane left Damascus airport, but disappeared from the radar after turning off the transponder.
The allegations come after the international war crimes prosecutor revealed evidence from mass grave sites in Syria, indicating the existence of a death machine run by the Syrian state during the Assad era.
