US sources revealed to CNN that the new deal proposal, which Israel agreed to for a 60-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, “takes into account Hamas’s concerns”.

CNN said in a report that the proposal was finalized in recent days, after months of behind-the-scenes efforts led by US President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff.

A US official speaking to the network indicated that the new version, which the Qataris were working on, attempted to take into account “Hamas’ concerns about the previous proposal,” revealing that during the ceasefire, Israeli hostages would be released in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.

Trump announced on Tuesday that Israel had agreed to the terms of a 60-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, warning that “if Hamas doesn’t accept the deal, things will get worse”.

Trump is scheduled to meet on Monday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who CNN reported is considering seeking a ceasefire or intensifying attacks on Gaza.

On Tuesday, an Israeli military official told CNN that Israel had not fully achieved all of its war objectives, but that “with Hamas’s forces diminished and in hiding, it has become more difficult to effectively target what remains of the armed group”.
