A Chinese official said that his country is communicating with all parties in the Yemen, including Ansar al Allah, to stop attacks in the Red Sea and protect and secure international shipping lines.

This came in an interview made by Shao Zheng, acting Chinese ambassador to the Yemen, during an online press conference, organized by the Sana’a Center for Studies (non-governmental) on Wednesday evening.

“We’ve communication with various parties, including the Houthis, in order to stop attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea that have doubled shipping costs,” the Chinese diplomat said.

He stressed the need to stop the conflict in the Gaza Strip, which he said will work to reduce the escalation in the Red Sea.

The Chinese diplomat explained that most of the Chinese ships weren’t directly affected by the attacks after some of them changed the passage through the Cape of Good Hope, pointing to two incidents in which two Chinese ships were attacked after the attackers thought they were for other countries.

He urged to stop any escalation of the conflict following the attacks launched by the Israel on the port of Hodeidah west of Yemen last Saturday, warning that any escalation will affect the daily and living lives of Yemenis.
