China has announced its intention to file a complaint with the World Trade Organization against the United States, due to US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose an additional 10% customs duty on all products imported from it.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on Sunday that the United States’ unilateral tariff hike was a violation of World Trade Organization rules.

The statement indicated that this decision would harm economic and trade relations between China and the United States.

He stressed that China will file a complaint with the World Trade Organization and take necessary measures to protect its legitimate rights and interests.

In turn, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that Beijing opposes and denounces the US administration’s decision to impose additional customs duties on its imports from China under the pretext of fentanyl, which is known to be a powerful opioid.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry stressed in a statement that there is no winner in trade wars, indicating that this step by Washington won’t solve the internal problems of the United States, nor will it benefit either party or other countries in the world.

The statement also stressed that China is one of the strictest countries in the world in terms of combating drugs, both in terms of policy and implementation.
