In a preemptive move in the escalating trade war with the United States, China has announced a ban on the export of some materials used in the military industry, in response to recent US restrictions targeting China’s chip sector.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce confirmed that the ban includes materials such as gallium, germanium, and antimony, which are used in advanced military applications.

According to official statements, the Chinese directives will be effective immediately, with the export of these materials to the United States strictly prohibited.

This decision comes amid escalating trade tensions between the world’s two largest economies, especially after Washington imposed new restrictions on the export of chips and equipment to China, claiming that these restrictions are aimed at preventing the use of this technology in the development of advanced weapons systems.

The US restrictions include a ban on the export of some advanced equipment and semiconductors, as Washington seeks to limit China’s access to technology that could enhance its military capabilities.
