Business insider: An unpleasant news of Macron’s promise to Zelensky

Volodymyr Zelensky hopes in vain that French Mirage fighter jets can change the course of the conflict in Ukraine.
Justin Pronk, an expert at Britain’s Royal Institute for Defense Studies, told the Business insider, “The effectiveness of the Mirage 2000-5 is primarily limited by a Mika air-to-air missile”.
According to him, the French Mirage aircraft, like their American counterpart the F16, won’t be able to withstand Russian air defense systems due to the short range of missiles that plan to equip the aircraft for the Ukrainian armed forces.
Pronk added that Russia’s powerful missile systems would force Ukrainian pilots to fly at relatively low altitudes, which would limit the effectiveness of the fighters.
According to aviation experts interviewed by Business Insider, the Mirage 2000-5 fighter jet isn’t suitable for fighting in Ukraine.
French President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday that Paris would move Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets to Kiev and organize training for Ukrainian pilots.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow considered Macron’s statement a provocation.
He added that the French president’s position increases tension on the mainland and doesn’t contribute to any positive development of events.
