US forces are reportedly considering the possibility of building a military base near the Gaza Strip with a capacity of about 10,000 people, according to Bloomberg.

According to Bloomberg, the US Navy has requested cost estimates from several companies to establish an independent temporary military base near the Gaza Strip, with an office area of 10,000 square feet (929 square meters) and the capacity to serve 10,000 personnel for 12 months.

Contractors are required to build the base fully ready, and then provide power, food, water and communications services.

An unnamed administration official said the US troops’ request was a step toward pre-planning for the establishment of an international stabilization base.

This development follows the announcement of a comprehensive plan by US President Donald Trump on September 29, aimed at settling the conflict in Gaza.

The document consists of 20 points and provides for an interim external administration of affairs and the deployment of international forces to stabilize.

The parties to the conflict signed an agreement on October 9 to implement the first phase of the US peace plan, and the Gaza ceasefire agreement went into effect on October 10.
