Bloomberg: The United States is pressuring Israel to delay the ground invasion of Gaza in order to release the hostages
The US and European governments are putting pressure on Israel to postpone its ground invasion of Gaza to buy time for secret talks taking place through Qatar to release hostages held by Hamas.
On Friday, Bloomberg quoted unnamed sources as saying that the negotiations with Hamas are going through a critical and sensitive stage and may fail.
Bloomberg explained that there are signs that Hamas may agree to release at least some civilians who were captured by its fighters in the October 7 operation without demanding that Israel release any prisoners from the movement in return.
The sources added that Israel initially resisted the demand to delay a large-scale military operation to eliminate Hamas, but it agreed, under US pressure, to postpone it.
