Biden and Trump to visit the border with Mexico

US President Joe Biden and Donald Trump, intend to visit the state of Texas, which borders Mexico, next Thursday at the same time, in a move that observers see as an electoral competition between Democrats and Republicans over the border security issue.
In press statements she made on Tuesday, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said that Biden will visit the city of Brownsville, Texas, next Thursday, to meet with Border Patrol officials, security forces and local officials.
She added that Biden will put pressure on the officials he will meet in order to reach an agreement with Republicans on border security.
On the other hand, a statement by the Republican campaign team said that Biden’s visit to Texas on the same day as Trump’s previously announced visit was an “insincere initiative”.
The visit of Biden and Trump to Texas on the same day, which comes ahead of the 2024 presidential elections, is seen as a competition between Democrats and Republicans to collect votes through the border security file.
Following the announcement of Biden’s visit to Texas, Trump said in a post on Truth social platform, that after coming to power, he would launch the largest operation in the country’s history to deport irregular immigrants.
Trump’s campaign team had previously announced that the former president and potential candidate for the upcoming presidential elections, would visit the city of Eagle Pass on Thursday (February 29), which is witnessing the largest crossing of migrants from Mexico to the United States.
The debate over border security and irregular immigration has worsened between Republicans and Democrats, with the failure to implement the recent decision of the Supreme Court, which allows the removal of barbed wire installed by Texas officials at the border under the supervision of the state’s governor, Greg Abbott, who accuses President Biden’s administration of not taking adequate measures regarding security at the border.
