Azerbaijani passenger plane crashes and explodes in western Kazakhstan

The Ministry of Emergencies in Kazakhstan announced on Wednesday that a passenger plane en route from the Azerbaijani capital Baku to the city of Grozny crashed near the city of Aktau in western Kazakhstan, with 120 people believed to be on board.

The ministry said emergency services were trying to put out a fire at the crash site.

Videos circulating on social media platforms showed the plane’s final moments as it lurched in the air, before it fell and exploded on the ground.

The Kazakh authorities confirmed that the plane involved in the accident belonged to Azerbaijan Airlines.

The plane belonged to Azerbaijan Airlines and was en route from Baku to Grozny in Chechnya but diverted due to fog in Grozny.

Kazakh media reported that 105 passengers and a crew of 5 were on board the plane, while Kazakh authorities haven’t yet provided precise details about the number of victims or the causes the crash.

It’s worth noting, based on new details, at least 28 people are believed to have survived after a passenger aircraft crashed.

Kazakhstan’s emergencies ministry said there were 62 passengers and five crew members on board.
