Ankara reveals its priorities in Syria
A source revealed, Tuesday, the priorities of Turkish policy in Syria after the fall of the Assad regime.
High-level Turkish sources confirmed that Türkiye seeks primarily to preserve the unity of Syrian territory, stressing Ankara’s rejection of any attempts to divide Syria or establish independent entities within its territory.
Türkiye also called on all international parties and concerned organizations to assume their responsibility in preserving the integrity of Syrian territory.
Türkiye sees the need to grant all segments of Syrian society the right to vote, expecting that the new constitution being prepared will include representation for all groups and institutions in the country.
The process of drafting the constitution will determine the shape of the future political system.
Türkiye is focusing on coordinated and constructive work between the Syrian opposition groups, calling for avoiding any differences or mutual pressures between those factions.
Türkiye is also working to prevent the return of terrorist organizations to the region, warning that this danger still exists amid the unstable situation in Syria.
In another context, Turkish Interior Minister, Ali Yerlikaya stated in a statement issued on November 20 that the number of Syrian refugees in Türkiye has reached 2,935,742, stressing that Ankara seeks to facilitate the return of Syrian citizens to their homeland as the situation in Syria stabilizes.
