In his first speech after assuming the position of Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem carried multiple messages, both through words and body language, after the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah by the Israel.

Qassem also thanked the leaders of Hezbollah and the Shura Council for choosing him for the position of Secretary-General, and pledged to bear the responsibility he assumed with full confidence and faith.

Qassem mourned Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and the former Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah.

Qassem also stressed the continuation of fighting and continued support for Gaza., with all strength and confidence.

Qassem also stressed that the war that Hezbollah is waging against Israel is a war to defend Lebanon and not a war in Iran’s interest.

Qassem talked about martyrs and pointed out on political efforts to end the war, and continued to emphasize the continuation of the fight, and that the party still has all the strength and ability to continue for the coming days, weeks and months.

During his speech Qassem was confident as he talked about the losses inflicted on the Israelis, reflecting a high level of self-confidence.

He also contemptuously talked about those who rejoice in Hezbollah’s weakness, before firmly affirming that Hezbollah will be victorious.
Qassem used colloquial dialect in parts of his speech, which gave his speech a more friendly and approachable character to the Lebanese public, something his predecessor Hassan Nasrallah did in many of his speeches.

Qassem was remarkably calm, as he didn’t appear tense or anxious, and there were no signs of anxiety such as touching his face or sweating.

Qassem reaffirmed the continuation of Hassan Nasrallah’s path, explaining that supporting Gaza against the Israeli occupation is a humanitarian, Arab and Islamic duty.

He added that the resistance will continue to confront the occupation and its expansionist intentions, stressing the importance of liberating the land and defending the rights of the Palestinian people.
