With his ongoing wars against Gaza and Lebanon, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been eager to consider himself as the “King of Israel”.

After more than a year, Israel failed to achieve its objectives in order to achieve what Netanyahu call it “declaring the absolute victory” over Hamas and Hezbollah.

Despite the states of intoxication with power and intoxication with arrogance that Netanyahu is experiencing – especially after the Israeli army carried out some major and qualitative attacks against the resistance and its popular base, such as assassinating leaders and achieving security successes – the obsession with failure and failure still haunts him and controls him as he faces facts on the ground that return him to square one every time.

In light of the ongoing killings and systematic destruction carried out by the Israeli army in implementation of the decisions of the political level in Israel, questions arise about the reality of the field achievements made by the resistance, which constitute a thorn in Netanyahu’s side, troubling him and spoiling his euphoria.

Away from the foreign policy losses related to putting Israel on the international map and dragging it to the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice, Netanyahu is facing 7 threats, that can destroy him for good.

1- The increase of human casualties, especially in the army

Since the beginning of the war, Israeli analysts haven’t stopped talking about the extent of human losses among the Israeli public and the military alike, which are estimated at thousands of dead and wounded.

In one hand, according to Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, thousands of IDF soldiers are entering army rehabilitation facilities.

Press reports speak of an atmosphere of pessimism dominating the political and societal scene, amid fears that Netanyahu is now dragging Israel into the unknown, at a time when it’s being subjected to constant blows from the resistance in Gaza, Iran, Hezbollah, the Houthis in Yemen, and the Islamic resistance factions in Iraq.

Despite the media blackout imposed by Israeli military censorship, which is prohibiting publish details of the casualties and losses recorded daily, however, what leaks out is enough to put huge amount of worries between the Israeli political and military leadership.

According to The National Interest magazine, Israeli political analyst Shalom Lipner said, “More than a year after Hamas attack, feelings of frustration and disappointment still prevail among the majority of Israelis”.

In addition to the human losses, thousands of Israeli soldiers are joining rehabilitation every month.

So far, the number of Israeli army dead in Gaza and southern Lebanon, announced by the Israeli army and published on its official website, has reached 777.

2- Haifa has become like Kiryat Shmona

Hezbollah’s missile attacks deep inside Israel marked a new path in the conflict, as the party launched the slogan “We will make Haifa like Kiryat Shmona”.

A state of panic was recorded in Israeli circles following the targeting of Netanyahu’s house, as the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that a drone launched from Lebanon directly hit Netanyahu’s house in Caesarea, south of Haifa.

Israeli military sources considered the arrival of a Hezbollah drone to the place where the Prime Minister lives to be a major failure for the security services.

The attack with a suicide drone on the Binyamina base of the Golani Brigade in Haifa a few days ago also achieved a painful military surprise for Israel, and Hezbollah described the operation as “qualitative and complex,” as the drone was able to penetrate the Israeli air defense radars without being detected and reached its target.

In a statement, the Islamic Resistance Operations Room, the military wing of Hezbollah, confirmed that it had decided to “discipline the enemy and show some of its capabilities at any time or place it wants”.

Netanyahu commented, saying, “We’re waging a fierce campaign against the Iranian axis of evil… We are paying a painful price, but we have tremendous achievements,” while Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi described the attack as difficult and its results painful.

Lebanese media outlets close to Hezbollah said that these operations reveal advanced intelligence and tremendous development in the equipment used by Hezbollah, and professionalism in military tactics, especially since they came after repeated statements by Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant in which he confirmed that he had succeeded in eliminating most of Hezbollah’s missile and drone capabilities.

3- Tens of thousands of displaced people inside Israel

To avoid missile strikes from Gaza and Lebanon, the Israeli government has evacuated thousands of Israelis from their homes, and for the first time in its history, Israel has recorded a record number of displaced persons.

According to the Israeli media, the number of displaced Israelis from the Gaza Strip settlements and the border with Lebanon has reached 120,000, but the number is rising to half a million.

The presence of these displaced people – whose expenses and costs have been covered by the government during their displacement for more than a year – will exacerbate the problems and economic and moral burdens on the occupation government, which has rented hotel rooms and guest houses for them, and has also resorted to setting up tents to shelter them.

Adding to that, and since the beginning of the war last year, reverse migration has increased, with the number of Israelis who have left for other countries permanently reaching terrifying numbers, especially since most Israelis have citizenship in other countries.

There are no accurate figures on the number of those who have left the country, and those who are seriously considering leaving.

Some unofficial statistics state that the number reaching one million Israelis.

4- Two million Israelis in shelters

As Hezbollah and Hamas continue to target Israeli cities and settlements, this hopeless situation brought back to the forefront questions about the readiness of the Israeli home front to confront missiles and drones’ attacks.

The attacks have also exacerbated the crisis of tens of thousands of displaced Israelis, as instead of them returning to their homes as Netanyahu promised, they have been joined by hundreds of thousands who are sleeping in shelters on daily bases.

According to the former commander of the air defenses, General Ran Kochav, in an interview with Israel’s Channel 12, the attacks have caused more than two million Israelis to be trapped in shelters and fortified rooms in more than 190 towns, settlements and cities.

The problem of insufficient shelters, known in Israel as the “shelter gap,” exacerbates the concerns of the Israeli authorities, especially with local data revealing the lack of readiness of a large percentage of public shelters.

It also became clear that the fortified rooms in houses and apartments did not provide complete protection for their residents from direct missile and drone strikes, and barely provided protection from shrapnel.

5- Losing hope

Ironically, the Israeli national anthem is “Hatikvah” the Hope in Hebrew, nevertheless it seems like Israelis losing hope of their presence in the alleged land of “Israel” has become questioned.

The State of Israel has been at war with its neighbors since its establishment, and there is virtually no Israeli family that hasn’t had casualties during the Arab-Israeli conflict to this day.

After Operation Al Aqsa Flood on October 7, 2023, which reminded Israelis of the 1973 Yom Kippur War, doubts about reaching a state of reassurance and “hope for a life in peace on the land of Israel” have become a mirage.

6- The Increasing targeting and infiltration operations inside Israel

With the continuation of military operations in Gaza and southern Lebanon, Israel faces the dilemma of the West Bank and various targeting operations targeting the home front, such as infiltration operations into cities and shooting in the streets, in addition to stabbing incidents and run-over operations, as the security situation has become tense in every spot from north to south, with the continued fall of missiles and infiltration of drones from several fronts.

The increase in these incidents has caused an echo inside Israel, and revealed a great degree of fear within the security establishment of cases of sequencing or operations to introduce explosive devices into the heart of major cities in Israel, which will cause great human and material losses.

In addition, the success of the shooting operations that took place inside Israel has increased the security fears in Israel of their negative repercussions on Israeli public opinion, and this became clear after the Jaffa operation that resulted in the killing of 7 Israelis and the injury of 16 others, during the Iranian missiles attack on October 1.

7- Countless economic losses

After a year of war, the economic situation in Israel is exhausted to the limit.

The continuous war waged by Netanyahu has caused huge losses to the Israeli economy.

Estimates indicate that the cost of the war has exceeded $67.3 billion so far, and this doesn’t include other costs related to the army, such as treating the wounded and providing shelter and refuges.

Fitch downgraded Israel’s credit rating, citing worsening geopolitical risks as the war in Gaza continues, amid threats of spillover to other fronts.

At the beginning of the war, the agency placed Israel’s sovereign debt rating on negative watch, and warned that any major escalation could lead to a downgrade.
