An Israeli military analyst said, on Wednesday, that the rockets launched from the Gaza Strip at Israel during the recent operation “changed the balance of power to some extent, as admitted by some Israelis”.

Amos Harel wrote in a report published in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz: “During the last round of fighting in Gaza, Hamas achieved an important practical achievement, in terms of the huge number of rockets and mortars fired at Israel”.

“Although the shells caused relatively few Israeli casualties, it appears that the balance of power between the two sides has changed somewhat,” Harel added.

He continued, “This achievement won the recognition of specialists on the Israeli side.

Hamas and Islamic Jihad have succeeded to some extent in developing a local military industry in the Gaza Strip”.

“They are very serious aggression in Gaza (Hamas and Islamic Jihad),” Harel quoted an Israeli expert, who was not named.

“This is not an enemy that should be underestimated.

They are no less dangerous than the weapons developers in Iran or Hezbollah”.

Harel pointed out that “Hamas succeeded in producing some targeted shows, such as launching more than 100 rockets at Ashkelon (south) in less than half an hour, or launching dozens of rockets at Gush Dan (center)”.

On Friday, the Israeli army revealed, in a written statement, that about 4,350 rockets were fired at Israel during the 11-day operation.

Since dawn on Friday, a ceasefire between the Palestinian resistance factions in Gaza and Israel came into effect, 11 days after their raids on the Strip, and the factions responded by firing rockets at Israeli areas.

The Israeli aggression on the Palestinian territories resulted in 287 martyrs, including 69 children, 40 women and 17 elderly, in addition to more than 8,900 wounded, including 90 “very serious” injuries.

On the other hand, 13 Israelis were killed and hundreds were wounded, during the Gaza factions’ response to the aggression by firing rockets at Israel.
