The Washington Post, posted report, according to former US military and  intelligence personnel, that the US military used Viagra as an effective weapon to “make friends” of Afghans during the US invasion of the Taliban stronghold that began in 2001.

The Washington Post reported a military officer involved in the invasion of Afghanistan, how to obtain information about the Taliban in exchange for a few tablets of the “blue pill”.

The American officer said the “lucky” man who got the Viagra pills was a 60 year old Afghan tribal leader, a husband of four women.

A CIA officer gave him a tape containing four Viagra pills as a gift.

The officer told him: “Take one of these pills, and I’m sure you’ll love it”!

The officer said the “free” gift had a magic effect, and that tribal leader came to him four days later, and he looked so young.

And without asking, the tribal leader poured in front of him tones of information about Taliban secrets and how to reach their headquarters and leaders, in return he asked for more Viagra tablets.

The incident refers to modern and innovative ways for the US military to get the information it wants in various places, such as Afghanistan, where it has intervened militarily since 2001, rather than the traditional way of buying spies with money.

In addition to the Viagra tablets, the list includes non-traditional gifts prepared by US intelligence agencies to recruit local agents, craft tools, medicines, surgeries, toys, stationery, and even Visas.

“You can make friends from influential people, by building a school or giving them a Viagra”, says a former CIA official who worked in Afghanistan.

In their long experience in Afghanistan, US military officials believe that “more paid” can buy tribesmen, some of whom worked for the US military and others for the Taliban.
