The Israeli army announced on Friday that it’s actively searching for Mohammed Sinwar, the brother of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, as well as all Hamas military commanders.

In statements made by the Israeli army spokesman, Daniel Hagari, he confirmed that “the Israeli Defense Forces will continue its operations in Gaza against Hamas and its infrastructure”.

Hagari denied that the army was implementing the so-called “General’s Plan” to besiege northern Gaza, stressing that the Israeli army relies on its own plans that are in line with international law.

Mohammed Sinwar, brother of Yahya Sinwar, previously served as commander of the Khan Yunis Brigade of the Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing, and is considered one of the engineers of the Gaza tunnel network.

He is one of the figures who may succeed his brother in leading the movement, as he is considered an active and highly influential figure, according to the Israeli media, which classified him on the list of Israeli targets.

On Thursday, the Israeli army announced that they killed Yahya Sinwar, head of the political bureau of Hamas, after a year-long manhunt.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed Sinwar’s death at a press conference, saying, “the person who committed the most heinous massacre in the history of our nation has been eliminated, but the war isn’t over yet, and we must recover the kidnapped”.
