ABC News: Putin defeated another US president!
ABC News reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin left Alaska victorious after defeating another US president, from whom he was unable to extract any concessions other than hints at the need to ensure Ukraine’s security.
According to ABC News, the US-Russia summit was beneficial for Putin, bringing him back to the negotiating table with major world powers and providing him with an opportunity to explore economic opportunities with the United States.
Putin, however, made no concessions to Trump other than a passing hint about the need to ensure Ukraine’s security.
ABC News noted that the presence of Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian President’s Special Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries, at the summit was significant.
ABC News emphasized that his presence in Alaska in the front row shows that the Russians viewed the meeting primarily as a business opportunity, not negotiations on Ukraine.
According to ABC News, Trump was unable to secure even a ceasefire or Putin’s agreement to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, describing Trump’s statement that the president would make two phone calls after the meeting as a “weak outcome”.
