A security officer shoots an US soldier at a base western Germany

A security officer opened fire on an US soldier at a base in a Germany, wounding the soldier with a bullet in the leg.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident began on Saturday/Sunday night with an altercation between two security personnel and a US soldier (23 years old) after the soldier assaulted the security service at the main gate of the US military base in Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany.
Police in the cities of baumholder and Trier said that one of the security men then shot the soldier in the thigh.
The police statement added that the soldier immediately taken to the hospital, noting that the soldier expected to leave the hospital soon.
The exact circumstances of the accident are still unknown, and a police spokeswoman said that the criminal police went to the scene, stressing that investigations are still underway.
It’s noteworthy that one of the largest US army bases in Europe is located next to Baumholder, and about 6,000 Americans live in what is known as the Baumholder Military Community, including soldiers and their relatives.
