A new meeting between the parties to the nuclear agreement in Vienna and Russia announces slow but steady progress
The states parties to the nuclear agreement concluded between Iran and the major powers in 2015 will hold a new meeting on Saturday, in the Austrian capital Vienna.
Russia’s permanent representative to international institutions in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, wrote on his Twitter account that the Joint Committee on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (meaning the official name of the nuclear agreement) decided today to hold a new meeting, in addition to previously planned activities at the level of The experts.
In another tweet, Ulyanov stated that the committee meeting would start within minutes.
The Russian diplomat confirmed that there had been “slow but steady progress” in discussions about the possibility of resuming the nuclear deal from which the United States withdrew in 2018.
This comes against the backdrop of increasing tensions over Iran’s nuclear program, with Tehran announcing the start of uranium enrichment by 60%, following the attack on the Iranian nuclear facility, Natanz.
