Poll: 59% of Americans have a negative view of Israel
A US opinion poll showed that 59% of Americans hold a negative view of Israel, while 39% believe that Israel has greatly exaggerated its military operations against Hamas.
Pew Research conducted a survey on Americans’ views on the “conflict between Israel and Hamas”.
According to the poll, which was conducted between September 22 and 28 and included 3,445 people, 59% of participants reported having a negative view of Israel.
Pew indicated that this percentage was about 51% at the beginning of 2024.
While, 39% of participants also expressed their belief that “Israel exaggerated its military operations against Hamas,” compared to 27% in 2023 and 31% in 2024.
In the same context, 10% said that Israel didn’t exaggerate too much, while 16% believed that Israel was adopting the right approach, and 33% expressed their inability to determine a position.
Regarding US President Donald Trump’s policies toward Israel, 36% believed he was excessively accommodating to Israel, while 23% believed he was pursuing a balanced policy.
In the survey, around 2% said he was overly accommodating to the Palestinians, while 38% expressed no opinion on the matter.
The survey also showed that 39% of participants believe that US humanitarian aid to the Palestinians is insufficient, while 20% described it as adequate, 9% as excessive, and 35% said they had no clear opinion.
Regarding the continued famine in Gaza as a result of Israel’s blocking of humanitarian aid, 55% of participants expressed extreme concern, 25% some concern, while 16% confirmed they weren’t concerned at all.
