Russia: The strategic partnership treaty with Iran has entered into force

The Russian Foreign Ministry described the entry into force of the comprehensive strategic partnership treaty between Russia and Iran as a milestone in the history of relations between the two countries.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement published on its website on Thursday: “The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Russia and the Islamic Republic of Iran, signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Mahmoud Pezeshkian in Moscow on January 17, 2025, will officially enter into force on October 2”.

The statement added, “This event represents a milestone in the history of Russian-Iranian relations, which have reached a qualitatively new level of comprehensive strategic partnership”.

The statement indicated that the treaty establishes pivotal guidelines in all priority areas of long-term bilateral cooperation.

The agreement calls for strengthening cooperation on the international stage in the context of an emerging multipolar world order, including close coordination within leading multilateral organizations, joint efforts to enhance stability and security in the region, and confront common challenges and threats.

The statement stressed that the aforementioned treaty reflects the strategic choice of the top political leadership in Russia and Iran to comprehensively strengthen friendly and good-neighborly relations, in line with the fundamental interests of the peoples of both countries.
