Moscow: The Kremlin announce… toppled Syrian president and his family are in Moscow

A source in the Kremlin revealed on Sunday that Bashar al Assad and his family have arrived in Moscow.

The source explained that Russia has granted asylum to Assad and his family.

Data from the Flight Radar website showed that a Syrian Airlines plane believed to have been boarded by Assad took off from Damascus airport at the time when opposition factions took control of the capital, while information revealed to the website later on Sunday confirmed that a plane took off from Latakia and landed in Moscow.

According to the website, the plane initially took off towards the Syrian coastal region, but suddenly turned around and flew in the opposite direction for a few minutes before disappearing from the map.

Two senior officers in the Syrian army confirmed to Reuters that Assad left Damascus on a plane to an unknown destination.

Later, Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi al Jalali said that the whereabouts of Assad and his defense minister have been unknown since Saturday night.

The Syrian opposition factions announced this morning in a statement broadcast on Syrian state television that they had taken control of the capital Damascus and ended the rule of Bashar al Assad.

Syrian television officially announced, Sunday, the victory of the great revolution and the fall of the regime of President Bashar al Assad.

A poster appeared on state television that read, “The great revolution has triumphed and the Assad regime has fallen,” and the Syrian television called for avoiding shooting in public squares.

Before that, the armed Syrian factions announced that they had liberated Damascus and overthrew the rule of Assad, which lasted 24 years.
